myORCA Account Notifications

ORCA has introduced a new feature to myORCA account management: Account Notifications. ORCA notifications are a new addition to account management intended to help you stay informed about activity on your ORCA cards and accounts. Examples of these notifications include reminders about when ORCA monthly passes will expire, a notification if there is a negative balance on a card, confirmation when autoload was established or modified, and more.

In addition to a dedicated notifications page within your account on myORCA.com, you can customize what you want to be notified about and how you are contacted, which can include any combination of the below:

  • Email Notifications: Notifications will be emailed to the primary email address listed on your account profile. Some emails cannot be turned off, including notifications about orders, autoload, and payment failures. Other emails can be turned on and off based on your preferences.
  • Text Notifications: If you have a mobile number listed in your account profile, you can enable notifications to be sent to you as a text message. Note, Reply STOP to cancel any time. (NOTE: By agreeing to receive text messages, you acknowledge that standard text messaging rates from your wireless carrier may apply. Any costs related with receiving a text message are the responsibility of the individual receiving the messages. Check with your cellphone provider for details on receiving text messages.
  • Push Notifications: If you have the myORCA app, you can enable notifications to arrive on your mobile device as a banner or alerts.

ORCA customers can customize notification delivery methods and notification types they receive regarding activity on their account. Whether you enable all notifications, some selected types, or none of them, we're hoping this new service can provide our customers with increased visibility into their myORCA account.

Account notifications are not automatically turned on, so if you are a desktop or mobile app user, read below on how to toggle notifications on and off, and how to navigate the new notification section of the myORCA account.

Viewing ORCA Notifications (Desktop)

Once you have created a new account or have logged into an existing myORCA account, there are two places to access your notifications and notifications settings.

In "Notifications" on the left-hand side of the screen, you can view your notification history, for example if an E-purse amount was added to a card, or an autoload payment was processed. The notifications include the title of the event and the date it was sent.

Once on the Notifications page, if you click the carrot highlighted in red after "Your ORCA Order" your notification will either display the full text or be condensed to the title and date. If you wish to delete the notification, you can click the "X" in the upper-right-hand corner, highlighted yellow, to remove the notification.

All new notifications that you have not clicked will have a yellow numbered dot by the "Notifications" tab on the left-hand side when you log into your account. If you click "Notifications", all new notifications will have the same yellow dot to the right of the notification title. Once you click the carrot to view the notification, the yellow dot will disappear.

Managing your ORCA Notifications Settings (Desktop)

To manage your notifications settings, go to the "Account Settings" page on the left-hand side of the screen.

Once on the "Account settings page", you will find the notifications section at the bottom, after "Profile information, "Shipping address", "Billing address", "Manage security questions", and "Delete your account".

Once in the Notifications section, you will see a list of notification types and on/off buttons on the right-hand side on the screen. We will focus on the first two notifications within the list.

Managing how you receive ORCA notifications (Email, Text, and Push)

"Receive Push Notifications on your mobile device"

If you would like to receive notifications to your mobile device as an in-phone notification, you can click the button on the ride hand side to turn on this feature. If the button is gray and says "No device token on file" you need to download the myORCA app on your phone before you can turn on push notifications.

When you download the myORCA app you will be promoted to allow notifications from the myORCA app. If you wish to change this later, see the "Managing Push and Text Messages (mobile app)" section below.

"Receive text messages at your registered phone number"

If you would like to receive ORCA notifications as a text message to your device, you can click the button on the right-hand side to turn on this feature. You will need to have an active mobile phone number listed in your account profile.

You can add a phone number to your account by scrolling up to the "Profile Information" section, and clicking the pen icon on the right-hand side of the screen. You will be prompted to enter your account password, where once correctly entered, you can edit your personal information including a phone number, and save.

Managing what you get notifications about

On the same page and section below the first two line items for push and text notifications, you can see the various notification types, including card linking, card blocked, replaced, balance information, pass expiration information, autoload alerts, and payment method alerts. On the right-hand side, you can see which notifications are triggered to be on or off.

NOTE: Detailed management of notification types can only be done in the desktop version. Mobile users can only turn on and off text and push notifications.

"Notifications On": Notifications that are on/enabled and are yellow

"Notifications Off": Notifications that are off/disabled and are white with a yellow outline

If a notification says "(Email Only)" at the end of the notification title, that means if you have that notification on and enabled, you will only receive it to your primary email address on your account. If you have text or push notifications enabled, a notification with the "(Email Only)" addition will not be sent as a text or push notification. If you have an "(Email Only)" notification off, you will not receive it via email, text, or push.
